Foster

Open your home. Save a life.

Fostering gives a dog the chance to leave the shelter, decompress in a safe home, and begin the journey toward healing and placement. For many dogs, a foster home is the bridge between crisis and a real future.

Why Foster

Why foster homes matter

Foster homes are one of the most important parts of rescue. They give dogs a safe place to rest, adjust, and begin learning what stability feels like outside of a shelter environment. In many cases, fostering is what makes rescue possible at all.

A foster home can be the difference between a dog waiting and a dog moving forward.
What It Means

What fostering looks like

Fostering is temporary care with lasting impact. You provide a safe, stable environment while UltiMutt RSQ works behind the scenes to support the dog’s needs, help the dog prepare for placement, and move toward the right long-term outcome.

Responsibilities

What we ask of our fosters

We ask our foster families to provide a safe, structured, and compassionate environment for the dogs in their care.

  • Provide a safe and healthy home environment.
  • Help the dog decompress and adjust to life outside the shelter.
  • Offer daily care, routine, exercise, and positive interaction.
  • Transport the dog to approved veterinary appointments if needed.
  • Stay in communication with our team about behavior, medical needs, and progress.
  • Support the dog’s journey toward adoption without promising placement to anyone directly.
Support

How we support you

You will not be doing this alone. A healthy foster program depends on communication, structure, and ongoing support, and we believe fosters should feel equipped rather than overwhelmed.

  • Guidance from our team throughout the foster period.
  • Coordination for approved veterinary care and next-step planning.
  • Help with placement planning and adoption coordination.
  • A rescue partnership built on communication, honesty, and support.
Good Fit

Who fostering may be right for

Fostering may be a great fit for you if you want to help save lives but cannot make a permanent adoption commitment right now. It is also a meaningful way to serve dogs in transition while helping us learn more about their personality, needs, and best home match.
